Why is it called PeePaw’s Garage?

In September of 2024, we (Ken and Karen) welcomed our first grandchild! When deciding what I (Ken) wanted to be called as a grandparent, I chose the name Peepaw. I didn’t want to be called grandpa like everyone else, I wanted it to be special. 

My new grandson gave me the courage to take the leap and start an automotive shop. I wanted to set a good example for my kids and grandkids of what quality customer service, honesty, and passion look like. My dream was for PeePaw’s Garage to be different from the other automotive shops – I wanted it to be special.

Ken Scull (Peepaw), Shop Owner

My name is Ken Scull, owner and operator of PeePaw’s Garage! I have been passionate about cars since I was a kid, inspired by my grandfather who sold and maintained vehicles. While I was in high school, I pursued a vocational program in diesel technology to gain hands-on experience. After high school, I worked at an auto shop specializing in Honda and foreign imports before transitioning into retail for stability. In the years since, I have expanded my technical skills by working with electronics, robotics, customer service, and equipment installations. However, I’ve continued to keep automotive work a personal passion.

After a recent life-changing injury, I had some time to reflect on my skills and aspirations. Through this, I realized it was time to turn my lifelong hobby into a career. With the support of my wife, Karen, I founded PeePaw’s Garage, a business dedicated to providing high-quality automotive maintenance and repair services to the Brainerd Lakes Area. I am happy to say that I have combined my mechanical expertise, problem-solving skills, and dedication to customer service to build a business rooted in passion, precision, and care!

My name is Cliff Nations, sales and service manager at PeePaw’s Garage! I have a strong background in both technology and automotive repair. With years of expertise in software development, system administration, and technical support, I help provide a problem-solving mindset and keen eye for optimizing performance. I’ve worked as a service advisor at St. Cloud Hyundai, Motor Works Auto Repair, and Monticello Auto Service, gaining valuable experience in assessing customer needs and recommending tailored solutions.

My nine-year tenure as a store manager at Verizon Wireless helped further strengthen my customer service and leadership skills.

My name is Karen, detail specialist at PeePaw’s Garage! I have dedicated 33 years to service-oriented industries, always striving to provide excellent customer care. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and spent a decade in that field before transitioning into customer service, restaurant management, and hospitality. With extensive experience in leadership roles, I have developed a strong attention to detail and a deep appreciation for quality work.

When my husband, Ken, founded PeePaw’s Garage, I took on the role of running the detailing division. My meticulous nature and commitment to excellence help ensure that every vehicle we work on is cleaned and restored with precision.

I take great pride in delivering outstanding results, and I’m excited to bring my expertise to customers who value a job well done!
